Your current medications, medical history, symptoms, and ability to follow up are reviewed in person or virtually. Medical marijuana may be right for you if traditional therapies haven’t provided adequate symptom relief.

What should I expect when using alternative therapies?

After determining that medical marijuana is an appropriate option for you, we discuss the methods of use, potential benefits, side effects, and dosing recommendations. 

A medical cannabis certificate is issued, allowing you to purchase regulated marijuana products from licensed Virginia dispensaries. 

Millenium Elite Primary Care fully complies with the Virginia Cannabis Control Authority (CCA). Patients are responsible for adhering to state laws governing the possession and use of medical cannabis.

To ensure your safety, you must use medical cannabis exactly as recommended in appropriate dosages. Store marijuana products away from unauthorized individuals and children, and avoid operating machinery or driving while using marijuana. 

Attend scheduled follow-up visits as instructed. 

If you’re not approved for medical cannabis, we discuss other evidence-based treatment options. 

Will I have to pay any fees?

Medical cannabis consultations and certifications are not billable to insurance companies. Fees involved with this alternative therapy include a consultation fee, a certificate fee, and optional state registration. 

While many patients use their certificate alone, you can also register for a digital card through CCA for an additional state-issued fee. Digital medical marijuana cards may offer convenience over paper certificates.

Your medical marijuana certification duration may vary based on your medical assessment. Re-evaluation is required for renewal.
