What is STD testing?

STD testing at Millenium Elite Primary Care consists of lab tests that screen for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), contracted via sexual contact with an infected partner. STD tests are important if you’re at risk of contracting STDs to detect symptom-free infections that can spread to sexual partners.

Which symptoms might STDs cause?

How do STDs spread?

STDs spread by intimate contact with an infected partner. They develop when viruses, parasites, or bacteria infect your body through fluids (urine, saliva, blood, semen, etc.). Oral, vaginal, and anal sexual contact are ways STDs spread. Using a condom or dental dam and not having multiple sexual partners reduces the risk of contracting STDs.

Your STD screening may consist of a swab, urine test, or blood test. Afterward, the lab analyzes your sample and we review the results with you.

What happens after STD testing?

If you test positive for an STD, you and your partner must both get treated and abstain from sex until treatment is complete.
